What Is Our Teen & College Student Therapy Like?

With a combined 35 years of experience, we’ve “heard it all.”  At this point it would be hard to surprise us. We want you to be honest and authentic. Being fully honest is the best way we can get at the root of an issue.

Our approach is centered around you– focusing on your unique needs and goals. Where are you getting stuck? What’s causing an issue? And how can we, together, begin to change the situation and/or your approach to it.

We primarily use psychotherapy with teens & college students. This therapy modality involves discussing your experiences, identifying the cause(s) of your experience, and developing strategies to cope with and overcome these challenges. Often therapy involves looking at how past experiences shape your behavior and thought patterns today and identifying those that no longer serve you, need to be adjusted, or examined from a different angle.

We use evidence-based techniques to help you understand your emotions, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and build a stronger sense of self.

Our therapists are here to support you every step of the way, ensuring you feel heard, understood, and empowered.

Our Teen & College Student Psychologists

Danielle Scheinberg

Harold Altman, PhD

I've been a Teen and Adult Psychologist for over 30 years. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, motivation, learning, ADHD, or peer issues, I can help you.

When working with adolescents, I serve as their advocate. I collaborate closely with both teens & their parents to navigate school difficulties and family issues. This can include conducting thorough reviews of previous test results, recommending school coursework or SAT tutors, and assisting with college applications and essays. I also act as a liaison between adolescents and their schools, physicians, and other professionals, ensuring a comprehensive approach to well-being.

I served as Chief Psychologist at St. Joseph's Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in NJ, and am currently on staff at two hospitals while holding a teaching position at a medical school. I have lectured nationally and consulted extensively for businesses. Additionally, I supervise many mental health professionals and psychology/social work students.

My advanced-year training was at a college counseling center where I provided therapy to teenagers and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, neurodivergence, grief/bereavement, and LGBTQ identity.

I believe in being a teammate trained to help you achieve your goals. Together, we will explore how past experiences impact your relationships today, the patterns you’ve developed, and how best to evolve in order to help you live fully.

I specialize in helping individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, and interpersonal issues, whether at home, work, or school. My goal is to support those trying to break free from unhelpful patterns and find a path to a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Dr. Josh Altman

In middle school and high school, I struggled with academics while trying to look cool and navigate social interactions as a multi-sport athlete.

What I wish I had known back then, and what I aim to help adolescents learn through therapy, is how to handle the stress that comes with a drive to succeed. Therapy isn't about becoming less ambitious – it's about building the resilience and emotional intelligence to thrive in a high-pressure world. It's about learning to appreciate yourself more by identifying and building on your strengths.

I understand the specific challenges high-achieving teens face: the anxiety about grades, the pressure to perform, the fear of failure, and social dynamics. I speak teen and adult fluently and can help teens and parents better understand and communicate with each other, reducing stress and minimizing conflicts. We'll work together to develop coping mechanisms that propel you forward as a well-rounded, confident young adult.
