Together, we will help you develop practical skills and strategies to enhance your relationships, improve your decision-making, boost your mood, and feel more confident.
Lao Tzu famously said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Taking the first step in any journey can feel difficult because you don’t know what lies ahead. But it is quite exciting, too. Think of me as your personal Sherpa: Someone who knows the terrain, climate, and potential pitfalls. If you are open and willing to take the first step and try something new, I will be by your side, supporting you throughout the process. At the end of the day, it is the things that challenge us and make us a little uncomfortable that ultimately help us flourish.
Prior to founding Altman Therapy, I worked in hospitals, universities, and community mental health clinics with diverse client populations.
For almost six years, I served as the Associate Director of the Adelphi University Student Counseling Center in New York. There, I provided clinical care, lectured, and supervised a staff of over 25 employees, serving 8,000 people across three campuses. I am passionate about contributing to the latest research on mental health, wellbeing, and resilience, and I have been regularly featured in publications such as Newsweek, Fast Company, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Modern Healthcare.
In addition to counseling, I’ve developed a customized program to help clients foster resilience, focus, and emotional fortitude. As a regular lecturer and innovator, I lead the way in creating a multidimensional approach to well-being. My counseling combines elements of social, physical, emotional, financial, and intellectual health, with a strong focus on helping clients stay present and centered, building resilience.
When I'm not providing therapy, I enjoy mountain biking, playing basketball, practicing mindfulness, and reading. I live in the New York City area with my wife, children, and our Bernadoodle, Molly.
