New York Lawyer Therapy & Counseling
Danielle Scheinberg - LMSW, ESQ
I’m a former lawyer, turned therapist providing therapy online across New York State.
I’ve experienced firsthand how demanding the legal profession can be, often leading to high levels of stress and burnout. Do you feel overwhelmed by the relentless demands of your job? Are you struggling with feelings of isolation, anxiety, or depression due to the high stakes and long hours?
It’s a field known for high stress, which can, unfortunately, have a significant impact on mental health.
You might notice that work is spilling over into your personal life, affecting your ability to enjoy time outside of the office.
The emotional toll of dealing with difficult cases, the pressure to always be available, and the fear of making mistakes can be overwhelming.
The demands of practicing law make it difficult to find a balance and enjoy your achievements. The stress can become so overwhelming that even minor issues can feel insurmountable, leaving you feeling isolated and stuck.
I Help Lawyers Experiencing:
Burnout
Anxiety or Depression
Physical Stress Manifestation
Substance Abuse
Inability to “Turn Off”
Relationship Issues
The Right Time to Start Therapy? As Soon As You’re Considering It
We all carry emotional and psychological histories that can impact our well-being & professional selves. Your past isn’t dropped when you enter an office door. The legal profession’s high demands can amplify deeper issues like tying your job to your identity, perfectionism, or the constant drive to feel useful.
Perhaps you were raised to value achievement above all else or always felt the need to be perfect to gain approval. These patterns can deeply affect how you handle stress, interact with colleagues, and connect with loved ones.
But there's hope. I use psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help lawyers address these challenges. These evidence-based approaches are backed by extensive research and have high success rates, offering a path to resilience and personal growth. Together, we can navigate these challenges and help you thrive both personally and professionally.
Therapy Tailored to Lawyers That Yields Results
I focus on action & results. My lawyer therapy is a space where we can foster greater fulfillment in your professional role as well enhance personal satisfaction outside of the office.
We’ll work together to:
Build Resilience: Through in-depth work and targeted exercises, we will enhance your emotional intelligence, equipping you to manage stress and regulate your responses. This often includes developing strategies for self-regulation, providing you with robust tools for resilience.
Explore Alternatives: This is particularly near and dear to my heart. Whether you're contemplating a career change or seeking greater fulfillment within the law, we can explore various pathways such as teaching, corporate roles, starting your own practice, or transitioning to a smaller firm.
Enhance Communication and Connections: We will work on improving your interpersonal skills, helping you connect with your values and goals beyond work-related achievements. This guidance aims to enrich your relationships and overall life satisfaction.
Embrace Your Humanity: Therapy helps you recognize how your past influences your present, allowing you to embrace your vulnerabilities and imperfections and experience a full range of emotions. This process helps you expand beyond a professional identity, reminding you that you are much more than your job.
