  • While I am very excited about teletherapy, I was skeptical at first and I wanted evidence that remote therapy was useful. I believed that effective counseling demanded a face-to-face approach and was unconvinced that mental health counselors could build a powerful, productive bond without in-person sessions. I've since transformed into a true believer. Not only has teletherapy proven its effectiveness, but it’s also deepened the therapeutic experience of my clients in ways I never expected. Clients can find reassurance in the surprising closeness we’ve discovered through virtual connection and I look forward to continuing to offer remote therapy - Dr. Josh Altman

  • When you meet your therapist for the first time, your therapist will start by asking specific questions to help get to know you better, but soon the therapy adopts a less formal structure. We will talk about what is on your mind, discuss your personal history, and explore your goals in a nonjudgmental and objective environment. Our licensed therapists have years of training in psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other modalities, but ultimately working together feels like a natural conversation with a trusted advisor.

  • Therapy can be short or long-term depending on why you are coming. The type of treatment and frequency of session will depend on your goals of treatment. Your therapist will work with you to tailor an approach specific to your needs.

  • 45 minutes

  • We are not in-network with any insurance plans. Our therapists are considered "out-of-network" providers.

If you utilize your out-of-network benefits, Altman Therapy will provide you with a monthly receipt for you to submit to your insurance plan for partial reimbursement. After payment of a deductible, out-of-network benefits typically cover up to 60-80% of our fee and you may use pre-tax dollars through a flexible medical spending account to cover out-of-pocket psychotherapy expenses.

  • Call your insurance company and ask about your mental/behavioral health coverage. Here are some specific questions that you might want to ask:

    • Do I have “out-of-network” coverage?

    • Do I have coverage for mental/behavioral health services?

    • What is my deductible and has it been met?

    • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?

    • How much do you cover for an out-of-network psychologist?

    • What is the coverage amount per session?

    • Is primary care physician approval required?

  • We accept Venmo, Zelle, Paypal and credit cards.

  • In order to accommodate everyone, if you need to cancel or reschedule please contact us at least 48 hours in advance. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice full session fee will be charged.
